Welcome!
Welcome to my blog! This is my first post. This blog will be about the books, articles and poems I read. Some might know me by my books I published. If you don't, then hey! Hi, I am Veronica Marie and I am a poet, author and all around nerd! I love the world of literature! It's my passion to dissect every inch of literature. I tend to write essays because I enjoy them. When I used to write essays in college, I enjoyed every minute of it!
So why challenge the thought like the title says? Well, I am trying to read more and I want to challenge myself to do that. I recently came across a YouTuber by the name of Rachelle In Theory. This particular video opened my eyes. In it she discussed the idea of taking in what we read and applying it to our own lives! Hence this blog was born! I am going to try and read more and apply what I dissect from the literature into my own life! Speaking of reading, I am currently in the world of Grisha! Actually, it's a Leigh Bardugo book. Haha! Well, it's Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. Again, haha! I'm currently on chapter 14. I started the book in June and I am still not finished. Yeah, I know it's November! Geez! I need to get with the program.
Let's Challenge The Thought!
Let's dive in! Since I'm currently on Chapter 14, then I'm starting this late! Anyway, my plan is to use a notebook and take notes on what I read so I can remember it! My notetaking structure will be different. I intend to take note of page numbers and annotate important passages in my own words. I bought kraft notebooks for each book I plan to read instead of having a reading journal. The thing about reading journals I realize is that I never go forth with using them. I'll try but it never works out! I decided to take a different approach!
THE APPROACH!
Like I mentioned above, I bought kraft notebooks and blank index cards. The notebooks are obviously for notetaking and the index cards are to track the reading I do by writing the pages I read. This index card will go in the back of the kraft notebook! The front will have a picture of the book I'm reading and below I'll write out the word 'Notes'. I know I said I won't use a reading journal but I plan to implement it somehow with a prebuilt one from Amazon. I'll use it to write reviews in the review section and use the index section as well. When I'm done with the book, I'll post the review here as well!
BUT WAIT...
What about applying what I learned? Geez Roni! After I finish the book I'll ask myself two questions..
1. What have I learned?
2. How can I apply what I learned to my own everyday life?
This is the way I'll do it! I'll try to keep this blog updated as I go! I plan to post at least three times a week. My next post I'll challenge is T.S. Eliot's Prufrock and use the same techniques I used here! What I have learned and how can I apply it to my own life? This will be fun and quite challenging. I'll do my best to dissect the poem and give my thoughts as well!
UNTIL NEXT TIME... Bye!!!
